Every year in feb/March there is a huge Dive show that several members of the club attend. This year we had around 10+ members head there to check out all the stalls and see what is happening elsewhere in the diving community.
Our Marine Champion Sarah, met with BSAC to discuss up and coming events, concerns and suggestions for supporting the ocean and river wildlife. Sarah is organising a river litter pick this year on the River Sow with many of our club members. She has a few ideas up her sleeves in the future for other environmental events where our club can help keep our oveans and rivers clean.
Our Diving officer and Training officer attended several BSAC workshops, linking in with other club officers to discuss training aand safety initiatives and ensure we are in line with BSAC’s safety codes and teachings. What fantastic dedication!
And of course – we all came home with slighlty less money in our pockets and slightly more dive gear .. but, how can you not with companies like Andark, Cressi, Beaver, Otter, Hammond, AP diving to mention but a few of our favourites we visited to check out wetsuits, undersuits, dryboots and torches – again just a drop in the ocean of the equipment we looked at.
One of long standing members (previously chariman of the club) Seb, took his young daughter for a try dive! Congratulations on gaining a new dive buddy in the years to come! Yes – There is a gigantic pool where you can book a try dive with various diving agency’s!
Of courseI must mention the resident mermaid, who this year exchanged her tail for a pirate outfit on occasion!
Steve Backshall among many others gave presentations and talks on various subjects. But, youll have to head over to the Go-Dive website for more info, and come along next year!
